#bearwisdom #mindset #transformation #coaching Who are you allowing to live between your ears?Is it your best friend, a voice of encouragement and support?Or is it your worst enemy, a voice that criticises and demeans?To be fair, whatever that voice says to you, it's really only trying to look out for you. One does it in a really helpful way - the other, hmm well it isn't so helpful is it?And when it says really nasty things (and it can be vicious can't it?) it's tough to view it with compassion and recognise that it means well.It does though.It's doing it's best to look out for you. It needs your compassion to help it feel understood and needed, to help it find more helpful ways to support you.Changing the way I interacted with this voice when it pops up was the first step in creating my inner-cheerleader.Now, I have a voice that supports me - this is my inner-cheerleader. This is represented by my 3 year old self and is called Little Loopy. She's a bit of a rebel and rather mischievous, which I very much appreciate.The other voice, my inner-critic, is learning to be more helpful in what it says to me. #bearwisdom #mindset #transformation #innercritic I spent years trying to fight my inner-critic.I would argue with it, trying to disprove it.It was exhausting.Worst of all, it didn't even help! Not even a little bit.All that happened was my inner-critic grew stronger and louder.Then I opted for a different approach.I set about changing my relationship with my Inner-critic.I accepted that it means well. It's simply trying to look out for me. OK, the way it does that isn't particularly helpful.I began to welcome my inner-critic as I would welcome guests to my home. The mental image at this point is greeting them with gin and cake! 😁Almost immediately I noticed a shift in our relationship.It didn't get louder.It actually began to settle down.That was the first step in enabling me to create my Inner-cheerleader.You see, I don't want to get rid of my inner-critic, I need it.
